Vladimir Kagan 1970's for Directional Signed Crescent Sofa in White Linen Fabric Style 4770 K

$16,000.00

Rare floating crescent three seat sofa by Vladimir Kagan manufactured in 1983 by Directional in original linen-cotton fabric in an ivory shade. A three tiered bottom part defines this sofa while the curved edges and back add a softness and refinement so know for Kagans design's. Professional cleaned this sofa is in very good vintage condition with only some very slight marks while retaining the original fabric stating style (4770K) for Kagan and the manufacturers label Directional at the bottom.

Vladimir Kagan saw furniture design as a creation of art and that was truly his forte, creating livable, beautiful artistic furniture. Referencing the Bauhaus movement as his inspiration for his first design with its clean, minimal lines, and form follows function, his mantra became less is more. Intending on bringing his aesthetic to a broader market, Vladimir Kagan started partnering with manufacturers and the North Carolina based company "Directional Furniture" was the premier choice for this venture. Many pieces were collaborated on and approved by Mr. Kagan in person, and the mention of this collaboration can be found in his newly published book: "The Complete Kagan: Vladimir Kagan, A Lifetime of Avant Garde Design”.
