Finn Juhl Rare "Model 46" Set of 4 Restored Rosewood, Teak and Leather Chairs

$20,000.00

Finn Juhl very rare "46-Chair" set of four dining chairs in rosewood, teak and leather made in 1953 by Bovirke and newly restored and re-upholstered. Prominent here is the combination of two woods contrasting with each other and also complimenting nicely with the leather seating in rustic leather, which is very rare combination to be found in the "46-Chair".
Paperwork confirming Finn Juhl as designer is available upon purchase.

Originally designed for cabinetmaker Niels Vodder, Finn Juhl presented the 46-Chair with armrests at the Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition in 1946 where it got appointed the very best of Danish Modern furniture design - a slightly more minimalistic version without armrests is shown here in our models. Finn Juhl emphasized the lightness of the chair by separating the carried and the carrying elements and adding an elegant curve and shield back to this design.
Finn Juhl's worked mostly with walnut and teak, but was also skilled with other woods as Cuban mahogany, rosewood and beech, rosewood being used for his finest furniture pieces.
For the 45-Chair he used only used grey upholstery in the beginning but later started using brown upholstery on the seats as in time he came to prefer monochromatic upholstery.

Since 2018 the house of Finn Juhl is again re-issuing the 46-Chair available in oak and walnut that would complement our vintage models if more chairs were needed.

  • Made in Denmark out of Rosewood, Teak and Leather

  • Newly Re-upholstered Leather and Restored Wooden Finish

  • Dimensions: 19ʺW × 20.5ʺD × 32ʺH
