Joe Colombo 1980's Signed Safari Chair Model 907 in Cotton and Leather Straps

$950.00

Very rare folding Safari chair Model 907 designed by Italian designer Joe Colombo. The chair is featured in linen seat and back and natural leather arm straps, where one arm is embossed with " Colombo 907". The frame of the chair is made out of patinated steel made in Italy.

Joe Colombo championed the notion of using modern technologies to create new design solutions and many of his furniture designs were characterized by optimistically bold, round forms. Born in Milan in 1930, designer Cesare Colombo—who went by Joe—came to design relatively late, having spent most of his twenties pursuing painting and sculpture.
In 1962, Colombo opened a design studio in Milan, from which he worked primarily on architectural commissions well as product design. Colombo’s design career was cut tragically short in 1971 when he died of heart failure at age 41 leaving behind some very iconic design pieces.

  • Made in Italy in patinated steel, linen seat and back and natural leather arm straps

  • Perfect Vintage Condition

  • 29ʺW × 21.5ʺD × 31.5ʺH
