Rare Alberto Dona Di Murano Floor Lamp Hand Blown in Mercury Glass
Rare Murano floor lamp or torchere handblown in mercury glass by Alberto Dona on the Venetian island of Murano, Italy, using the same traditional techniques as his family business has been doing for centuries to produce some of the world's most illustrious glass products. The surface of the mercury glass has a highly reflective sheen and features four cones contrasting with a dark blue glass detailing in between.
A Certificate of authentication by Alberto Dona will be included with the purchase. The floor lamp has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent condition.
Alberto Donà, born in Italy in 1944, began working in the glass field at the age of 13 and became known for his ability with colors and creativity in generating unique combinations, hence his valued collaborations with important companies such as Venini, Saporiti that have relied on Donà for glass accessories. In October 2001, he had a one-man show at the Vassel Art Gallery in London. He was selected to furnish the lighting for the Hiroshima Memorial Museum.
