Willy Rizzo Signed 1970s Backgammon Table and Chairs in Steel and Brass, Leather and Peccary
Very rare 1970's backgammon table and chairs by Italian designer Willy Rizzo. In its design, materials, provenance and authorship, this piece embodies 1970s cool.
The game table features a stainless steel and brass frame and a playing board with a cream colored field adorned with leather points in chocolate brown and ebony. The playing board is framed by peccary sides in light cream all inset within the outside brass structure. The other side of the top features a Peccary cream colored top, ideal for poker or other card games.
A hidden chrome drawer with a mirrored chrome inside sleeve makes it easy and perfect for storing backgammon pieces, cards or poker chips. A pair of chairs in steel and cognac leather complete adorned with finials complete this stunning set.
The table is signed Willy Rizzo - the Rizzo being very faded due to its age. The table was professionally restored by leather restorers and metal professionals to bring the colors and beauty of this table back to life while still keeping its originality and integrity.
It is said that Willy Rizzo designed this stunning table for his friend Massimo Vignelli - Vignelli worked in a wide variety of areas, including interior design, environmental design, package design, graphic design, furniture design, and product design designing the famous New York City Subway map.
Made in Italy in Stainless Steel, Brass and Peccary Leather
